This World Water Day, March 22nd, “Buy A Drink” for someone in Uganda

Help The Adventure Project, bring clean water into homes, schools, and health clinics in seven villages in need. Together, we can provide 6,000 people in Uganda with access to clean and sustainable drinking water.

So for World Water Day 2016, we’re asking everyone we know to “Buy A Drink” and donate:
  • $3 (cup of coffee)
  • $9 (glass of wine)
  • $40 (buy a round) and you’ll provide one person in Uganda with clean water.

The first $15,000 raised on World Water Day will be matched, thanks to the generosity of Mattel, Inc.

To meet this goal, we need to raise $250,000. We know this is an audacious goal, and one we did not accept lightly.

But, we decided we would rather fall short rallying for the urgent and basic needs of others, then “win” by playing it safe and aiming small. The last few years, working in these communities has shown incredible, life-changing progress. It is deserving of our support.

Since 2014, we have helped to rehabilitate 64 wells in Kamwenge, bringing clean water to over 25,000 people and creating jobs for 55 well mechanics, 64 caretakers and 20 well chairmen (139 jobs created, in total).

We believe small gifts matter. Because when thousands of people stand up to fight for others – anything is possible. We hope you will  join us.

FACTS ABOUT WATER:

  • 663 million people - 1 in 10 people worldwide - lack access to clean and safe drinking water.
  • Over one-third of all wells drilled in the last twenty years are now broken - 50,000 are currently broken in Africa alone. They remain broken because communities lack access to spare parts, tools and trained well mechanics to keep them working.
  • Every $1 invested in clean water can yield $4 - $12 in economic returns in the local community.

HOW:

Bringing clean water to everyone won’t happen overnight – but seven villages urgently need water now. We’re prioritizing the communities who need it first:
  • Three villages currently lack water because their wells are broken: Bugongo, Mukayembe, Kakindo. We want to fix them and hire caretakers to keep them clean and flowing.
  • Three villages are located completely off the grid, and have never had water before. We want to drill a deep borehole and connect all three communities to clean water through a piped network of 33 tap stands. This huge project will give over 5,000 people in Bitojo, Byantumo, and Nyabubale villages clean water for the first time.
  • The village of Kabambiro needs a motorized borehole to meet the demand so it can serve 550 people in the growing community.

- All donations are tax deductible.
